The library room of a country home, placed on the gallery next to the office to make sure that it is accessible to every family member. The honey-coloured bookshelves are individually produced, just like the railing, the lamps, and the English-inspired armchairs – with foot rest.

Unique features from a villa furnished in English style. The library rooms as well as the elaborate – and partly individually produced – items of furniture are made of mahogany. A library consisting of twenty thousand volumes was placed in this office. The bookcases all around the room as well as the other furniture were made of mahogany wood. They are beautiful, elaborate pieces of handwork from Indonesia; the armrests are graceful swans – still inspired by the Empire style.

Office in an old villa where the former wall coverings as well as the radiator covers were renovated. What makes this room special is the small winter garden that can be discovered behind the window. The desk was placed in parallel with it, together with two gilded Classicistic lamps. Taking an afternoon nap on the former Biedermeier sofa feels good.

An office formed within the attic area. There are bookcases all around with matching wall coverings and a beautiful antique German desk, which – considering its size and weight – was the appropriate choice. Further comfort is provided by a computer desk and an armchair for reading. The Jacquard drapery matches the style of the library room; the same fabric covers the armchair as well.

This office/library room, which is easily accessible for each member of the family, was also set up in the attic area. The bookcases were made of walnut wood, individually in this case as well, with a glassed upper section, based on old Classicistic proportions. We could often see such pieces in the storage rooms of our old schools. The chairs had been inherited by the family right before we started working on the design of their house, so we renovated and recovered them.

The cabinet and the two faience statues above were defining pieces in this library/office. The books were placed on the left of the room, and around the walls we designed a covering, while the textiles, which were of old green pastel shade, provided pleasant comfort for those who lived and worked there.

A university student’s comfortable study room. The warmth of the Classicistic furniture is striking with the individually-designed, vanilla-coloured wall covering and the painted furniture in the background. The Belgian upholsteries are beautiful and of excellent quality.

The bookcases around the room were made of warm, honey-coloured walnut wood, with door units at the bottom and open shelves at the top. The two Classicistic lamps were individually made, painted, and gilded. The room was made complete by the harmony of the fabrics.

It can be seen in the two pictures as well how important it is to find the proper balance and proportions within a given space. The balance here, besides the proportions, is provided by the symmetry of the lamps, the rich ornamentation of the carpets, and the textiles.
